Dear Friend,

For more than 70 years, the BMA has been a vibrant cultural cornerstone of our community. Throughout this time, we have been dedicated to inspiring, educating, and enriching the lives of those in Birmingham and beyond through the power of art with our global collection of nearly 28,000 works of art. These efforts have been consistently bolstered by the unwavering support of friends like you; and together we have achieved so much.

This was an extraordinary season for the Museum as we returned to full operations following the pandemic years. Our spring Holi festival was perhaps our best yet, with thousands of visitors spilling out into the neighboring City Walk area to throw colors in celebration of the changing of seasons. This summer, Art On The Rocks continued its tradition of introducing new audiences to the Museum, welcoming more than 2,000 visitors throughout the galleries. In September, we commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing with the poignant exhibition Dawoud Bey: The Birmingham Project, which has drawn thousands of visitors to date. After a long closure, we reopened the doors of our ArtVenture family gallery to allow our youngest visitors the opportunity to explore, touch, and experience art in a space dedicated to play. This fall, we reintroduced our popular program Art + Conversation, an in-depth lecture series dedicated to the exploration of the Museum’s permanent collections. Finally, our impact continues outside the Museum walls where we serve schools and communities with meaningful art experiences through strategic outreach efforts.

Next year, our momentum keeps building, and we are proud to host our first ticketed exhibition in nearly a decade, Heroes and Villains: The Art of The Disney Costume, presented by PNC. Beginning in February, we look forward to welcoming new audiences from around the region for this special opportunity.

We hope you’ll join us in the exciting pursuit of our mission: to spark the creativity, imagination, and liveliness of Birmingham by connecting all its people to the experience, meaning, and joy of art.  Please consider a gift to the Annual Fund today.

Together in art,
